A senior Russian military figure has been killed following an explosion in Moscow, according to reports from authorities.

The event occurred on Monday morning when an bomb planted beneath a vehicle detonated, leading to the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov served as the head of the armed forces' unit responsible for operational readiness.

Authorities indicated that one line of inquiry points to the alleged involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. So far, Ukraine has not issued a comment.
