Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial Fall Classic since the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.

Down three runs to one, the star outfielder smashed a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 series victory in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the anticipated World Series.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I'd prefer in that spot besides Springer with his post-season brilliance," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
