Grief as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.

A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom began shooting at him before running away.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear and no arrests have been made, as per the official statement.

The Fatal Incident

Police said that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a premises close to the city center landmark.

He had spent several hours at the building managing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, as per local media.

"It is alleged the man was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report said.

Surveillance tape reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but collapsed a short distance away.

Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the incident.

"I am in shock. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."

She requested the community to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the incident, explaining this was an extremely painful time, particularly for Stock's young family.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that premiered on a South African broadcasting platform.

Beyond his media career, Stock was involved in various business ventures, including security provision, offering elite guarding services and securing prestigious gatherings across South Africa.

He was also reportedly involved in building administration and was involved in tenant removals.

A government minister remarked he was angry and saddened by Stock's killing.
