Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry instalment that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' structure by having a new setting and ensemble in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always examining the essence of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our mutual bold, daring style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
