The Manager's Position on Celtic

McKenna referred to Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Ipswich in 2021 and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last campaign as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"There have been such discussions," the London-born former Irish youth international said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my focus is currently.

"I possess a unique job here at a remarkable team. And we're at a really important stage of the season. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Background and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a really big football club."

McKenna signed a new multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I tackle this job like I'll be Ipswich manager indefinitely. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as while I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Position

Bellamy played for the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the former Welsh forward is minded to finish the current global tournament qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Celtic job.

The Welsh squad are presently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and second-placed Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and their rivals in November would book their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually guaranteed of making those, due to a productive Nations League performance, should they not finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his present stance, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after the European Championship, would be unavailable until following the qualifying matches at the minimum.
